God of Fire by Carlito cigars from our walk-in humidor in Yuma, Arizona: the Double Robusto and its tubo, the Piramide, the Diademas 56, the Churchill and the Double Corona. By Carlito is the blend of Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr., as Cigar Aficionado credits it, made at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. for Keith K. Park's God of Fire. God of Fire calls it "indisputably the boldest of all the God of Fire cigars": a Cameroon wrapper over Dominican binder and filler, medium-to-heavy, with a peppery tang balanced by a slight sweetness. How by Carlito reached stores
When God of Fire's May 2007 release began shipping, Cigar Aficionado reported that the cigars had been rolled in 2005 and aged two years; the Double Robusto was among the first by Carlito sizes in stores, and the Churchill was listed in that release. Cigar Aficionado reported the same year that the Pirámide and the by Carlito tubos would follow the first Double Robustos that fall. When the 2013 shipment of by Carlito 2010 arrived, Cigar Aficionado listed the Double Corona with the Double Robusto, Pirámide and Churchill, and Keith Park put the run at about 500 boxes per cigar. halfwheel reported the Diademas 56 arriving at retail in November 2017, with a secondary band reading 2014.
Where God of Fire comes from
God of Fire is the cigar line of Keith K. Park, who founded the accessories maker Prometheus in 1992. In the spring of 2003 he raised the idea over dinner with Carlito Fuente in the Dominican Republic; Park had produced the documentary The Fuente Family: An American Dream in 2002 and had been repeatedly called "God of Fire," and Carlito suggested the name for the brand. halfwheel dates the first God of Fire cigars to November 2004, presented in limited-edition Prometheus humidors. Every God of Fire is rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in the Dominican Republic, over Dominican binder and filler.
Every God of Fire wears two bands. The main band reproduces the painting Prometheus Bound, and the second names the blend and the year the cigar was made, a production year rather than a harvest year. The boxes are red and black. All six blends, by Carlito, by Don Carlos, Serie B, Serie Aniversario and the two KKP lines, are compared on our God of Fire page and in our God of Fire guide.

Ratings and tasting notes
Diademas 56: halfwheel scored it 90 in May 2018. Sources differ on its length: God of Fire lists 6¼ x 56, and halfwheel measured 5¾ x 56.
Churchill, 7 x 48: we found no Cigar Aficionado, halfwheel or Cigar Coop score. God of Fire's own note for the blend: a medium-to-heavy body with a pronounced peppery bite, rounded out by subtler flavors and a touch of sweetness.
Choosing a by Carlito
- Where to start: the Double Robusto, 5¾ x 52, one of the first by Carlito sizes in stores, or the Piramide, 6⅜ x 52, with its tapered head.
- To carry: the Double Robusto Tubo, the same cigar in its own tube.
- The figurado: the Diademas 56, the size halfwheel scored 90.
- A long evening: the Churchill, 7 x 48, or the Double Corona, 7⅝ x 49, the longest by Carlito.
For the same diadema shape under Connecticut Broadleaf maduro, see Serie B; for the Carlos Fuente Sr. blend, by Don Carlos. More Cameroon wrappers from every brand are on Cameroon cigars, and more tapered shapes on torpedo and figurado cigars.
What to pour with by Carlito
We found no drink pairing from God of Fire, so this is our house suggestion: a high-rye or barrel-proof bourbon, or a rye, with enough spice and proof to stand up to the Cameroon pepper. For something softer after dinner, a cognac. Our cigar and whiskey pairing guide has more, and in the lounge you can ask the bar for a pour from the spirits menu.
Keeping and aging them
God of Fire says its cigars rest another two to three years in the aging room after rolling, and founder Keith K. Park encourages aging them longer still, much as you would a fine wine. Store them at a steady 65 to 70 percent relative humidity, leave tubed cigars in their tubes, and use the second band to track how long each one has rested. Every order ships with a Boveda humidity pack, and our cigar storage guide covers the rest.
