When Cigar Aficionado announced Camacho Triple Maduro in April 2007, it described a cigar made from maduro wrapper, filler and binder tobaccos, and called it a first for the cigar industry. The magazine credited the idea to Sal Fontana, Camacho's "consigliere." Oettinger Davidoff took over Camacho the next year, in 2008, and the cigar is made in Honduras.

When Camacho cut its range from 11 lines to six in 2013 and reblended most of them, Cigar Aficionado reported that Triple Maduro was one of the two lines left as they were. Cigar Aficionado lists its strength as medium to full.
