Cohiba Blue is the Cohiba General Cigar launched in April 2017, rolled at General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Cigar Aficionado called it a more affordable version of the storied Cohiba brand, and General Cigar's own sales materials, as halfwheel reported, called it an approachable, everyday cigar. The wrapper and binder are Honduran, from the Olancho San Agustín region, over a filler of Honduran Jamastran, Nicaraguan Ometepe and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobacco. Cigar Aficionado reported that it was billed as medium-bodied, and the magazine rated the Robusto medium.

It is not a Cuban cigar. As Cigar Aficionado put it in 2025, General Cigar sells non-Cuban versions of the Cohiba brand in the United States; Cuban cigars cannot legally be sold here. Our guide explains why Cuban cigars are illegal in the U.S.

What to pour with Cohiba Blue
From our bar, our house suggestion: a medium cigar sits well beside a 90-proof wheated bourbon, or a smooth Irish whiskey if you want something lighter. More in the bourbon and cigar pairing guide.
