Oro is Spanish for gold, a nod to Litto Gomez's years as a jeweler before he made cigars; in 2022 Cigar Aficionado read the golden band the same way. Oro launched in gold-finished tubes, five to a box, in two forms: the 6 x 54 No. 6, in natural and maduro, and the Chisel, the wedge-shaped figurado head Gomez created. halfwheel notes the No. 6 is round, while the Chisel, also 6 x 54, is box-pressed. In June 2025 La Flor Dominicana added 20-count boxes of the No. 6 without tubes, and in October 2025 three new Oro Natural sizes, among them the 7 x 60 No. 8, in untubed boxes of 20 and in natural only.

Ratings and tasting notes
Oro Chisel: No. 14 on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 for 2013 at 94 points, with spiced leather and a tingle of ginger over hearty hickory wood, a cigar the magazine called considerably strong; then No. 12 for 2022 at 93, rated medium-full. Both times the magazine noted the gold tube.
No. 6 Natural: Cigar Coop scored the tubed No. 6 91 in December 2012 for nut, natural tobacco, pepper and caramel sweetness, rated full in strength. halfwheel's October 2012 review of a prerelease No. 6 found a spicy opening that settled into cookie dough, coffee and wood, with white pepper building through the middle.
No. 6 Maduro: Cigar Insider scored it 87 in June 2022 and rated it full: bold and earthy, with charred oak, anise and a hint of almond.
Choosing an Oro
- The Top 25 shape: the Chisel Tubo, box-pressed under LFD's chisel head, in its gold tube.
- The original toro: the No. 6, by the box in Natural or Maduro, or in a gold tube as the Tubo No. 6 Natural or Tubo No. 6 Maduro.
- The long, wide one: the No. 8, 7 x 60, natural only.
More box-pressed cigars from every brand are on box-pressed cigars, more tubed cigars on tubo cigars, and more Top 25 cigars on Top 25 cigars.
What to pour with LFD Oro
Our house suggestions from the bar, as in our La Flor Dominicana guide: a barrel-proof bourbon or a rye with the Oro Natural, and a sherry-cask Scotch or an aged rum with the Maduro. Our cigar and whiskey pairing guide has more. In the lounge, ask the bar for a pour from the spirits menu.
Keeping them fresh
Store them at a steady 65 to 70 percent relative humidity, in a humidor or a sealed bag with a two-way humidity pack; leave tubed cigars in their tubes until you smoke them. Every order ships with a Boveda humidity pack, and our cigar storage guide covers the rest.
