Litto Gomez, a jeweler before he turned to cigars, grows his tobacco in the drier climate of La Canela, which Cigar Aficionado credits for the stronger, spicier leaf his cigars are known for. The L-400 and L-500 share one blend in two ring gauges. The Cabinet Oscuro keeps the estate-grown binder and filler under a darker wrapper; in 2012, when it added a Torpedito to the line, La Flor Dominicana called Ligero Cabinet Oscuro Natural one of its most popular lines. The Ligero line is not the Double Ligero, a separate LFD line under an Ecuadorian Sumatra sun-grown wrapper.

Ratings and tasting notes
L-400: Cigar Insider scored it 92 in February 2002 for earthy flavors with sweet wood and black cherries, and Cigar Aficionado followed with 90 that June, finding sweet cedar, a tangy edge and a cedary finish.
Cabinet L-500 Oscuro: Cigar Aficionado scored the Ligero Oscuro Natural Cabinet L-500 88 in June 2022 for black pepper spice with leather and earth. Reviewing it in March 2026, The Cigar Authority found earth, leather, dark chocolate and strong coffee up front, with white pepper and cayenne, and berry-like notes in the final third.
707: Cigar Aficionado scored it 87 in October 2022: grainy wheat and oat notes give way to a cedary, nutty smoke with faint leather and caramel. The 707 began in 2014 as a store exclusive for members of the Tobacconists' Association of America, about 1,000 boxes of 24 in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, which halfwheel called LFD's first 7 x 70. That December La Flor Dominicana made it regular production with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, ten to a box; Cigar Coop reported it as LFD's second 70-ring cigar and its first in regular production.
Choosing a Ligero
- The slimmer ring: the L-400, 5¾ x 54, the size the 2002 reviews covered.
- The wider ring: the L-500, the same blend at 5¾ x 60.
- The darker wrapper: the Cabinet L-500 Oscuro, the L-500 size in LFD's almost-maduro Sumatra.
- The big one: the Ligero 707, 7 x 70 under Ecuadorian Habano, packed ten to a box.
More full-bodied cigars from every brand are on full-bodied cigars, and more Sumatra wrappers on Sumatra cigars.
What to pour with LFD Ligero
Our house suggestion from the bar, as in our La Flor Dominicana guide: a barrel-proof bourbon or a rye. A higher-proof pour holds its own beside a full-bodied cigar. Our cigar and whiskey pairing guide has more, and in the lounge the bar can pour from the spirits menu.
Keeping them fresh
Store them at a steady 65 to 70 percent relative humidity, in a humidor or a sealed bag with a two-way humidity pack. Every order ships with a Boveda humidity pack, and our cigar storage guide covers the rest.
