The Master Blends series

halfwheel traces the series to the original Master Blends of 2003 and Master Blends 2 of 2005, and reported that those two were capped at 375,000 cigars and 120,000 cigars. Master Blends 3 followed in 2006 in four regular sizes, and a 6 x 46 Corona Gorda came later, in December 2012, as an event sampler. For Oliva's Serie V, see Oliva Serie V and Serie V Melanio.

Ratings

  • Robusto: 92 from Cigar Insider (November 2006), which found an oily, chocolate brown wrapper, earthy and creamy flavors and a spicy finish that hints of brown sugar; Cigar Snob also scored it 92 in 2013.
  • Torpedo: 91 from Cigar Aficionado (August 2007), rated medium-full: sweet and savory notes framing a spicy core, with nut and leather building to a saffron finish. Cigar Insider gave it the same score in 2006.

Stogie Review's February 2011 review of the Robusto found earth and wood with a sweet, smoky spice and leafy cedar, then coffee, cinnamon and graham cracker toward the end.
