Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth
Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth is an Italian sweet vermouth made to the Antica Formula by Fratelli Branca Distillerie of Milan. Its lineage runs back to Turin in 1786, when Antonio Benedetto Carpano invented vermouth. It is bottled at 16.5% ABV (33 proof) and produced in limited quantities.
Mountain herbs and spices, saffron and vanilla among them, are infused into the vermouth. Vanilla leads on the nose, joined by spice, citrus, dried fruit, raisin and clove. The palate is rich, layering vanilla with bitter orange, dates, cocoa bean, cherry and saffron, before a very long finish of rich fruit and spice.
At Sun of a Gun Cigars & Spirits in Yuma, Arizona, we pour it by the glass as a single or a double, with bottles to go (1 L). Our shelf changes as bottles are poured and new ones arrive, so call 928-276-3500 to confirm availability, and ask our team for a cigar from the walk-in humidor to pair with it.
