Opus X Templo de Oro is the Fuente Fuente OpusX that arrived at retailers, largely unannounced, in December 2025, in four sizes and decorative boxes of 20 that Cigar Aficionado calls heavy on the gold. Arturo Fuente makes it at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The name means "temple of gold," which Cigar Aficionado reads as a reference to the wrapper's light, golden hue and the golden sleeve around each cigar.

About Fuente Fuente OpusX Templo de Oro Cigars
Fuente has said little about the blend. halfwheel lists the wrapper, binder and filler as undisclosed. Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr. told halfwheel in December 2025: "I think it's a lot creamier than any of the Opus I've made, it's made that way intentionally." Asked about the wrapper, company CEO Ciro Cascella told Cigar Aficionado: "It's beautiful, aged tobacco. That's all I can say."
halfwheel reviewed the #8 in July 2026 and found the blend "like some of the ForbiddenX cigars or OpusX 25, orbiting the regular blend but not a direct clone." Its verdict: "Quite frankly, it looks more different than it tastes." Like every Opus X, Templo de Oro is allocated: Arturo Fuente decides how many boxes each authorized retailer receives, and Cigar Coop reported that retailers typically received only one or two 20-count boxes. Sun of a Gun is an authorized Arturo Fuente retailer.

Templo de Oro and Forbidden X
Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr. announced the release on social media as the Forbidden X Templo de Oro, "Age of Gold," "with their golden wrappers," Cigar Coop reported, and Cigar Aficionado calls it the ForbiddenX Templo de Oro. halfwheel reported that each cigar wears the ForbiddenX main band with a Templo de Oro secondary band and a large gold foil covering. halfwheel also calls Templo de Oro the latest sub-brand of the OpusX flagship and notes that the ForbiddenX band has been used on a long list of blends, and in October 2026 Arturo Fuente's own Forbidden X page still listed only four vitolas, none of them Templo de Oro. We show it on our Opus X Forbidden X page as well.

What to pour with Templo de Oro
Fuente publishes no pairing, so these are our house suggestions from the bar. Carlito Fuente says he made Templo de Oro creamier than his other OpusX, and halfwheel found it a slightly tamed-down take on the regular blend, so reach for a smooth Irish whiskey or a light Speyside. More in the cigar and whiskey pairing guide.
What does Templo de Oro taste like?
halfwheel smoked three of the #8 for its July 2026 review. The cigars opened with wood and bread over oatmeal, cream and a touch of white pepper, turned nutty in the middle, and moved toward earth, leather and black pepper at the end. The reviewer rated flavor full and body medium-full, with strength building from medium to medium-full, and found the body lighter than core OpusX.
Which Templo de Oro size should you choose?
Three of the four sizes run about six inches, so ring gauge does most of the work. The #1 (6⅛ x 50) is the slimmest, a classic toro; the #8 (6⅛ x 55) adds girth for a slower, cooler burn; the #13 (6 x 58) is the widest of the four. The #3 (5½ x 52) is the short robusto, which we do not carry. Slide off the gold foil before you light, and see our cigar size and ring gauge chart.
Templo de Oro on our shelf
As of October 2026, the Opus X Templo de Oro #13 is in our humidor by the single, and the #1 and #8 are between allocations. halfwheel reported that the boxes, in the same style as OpusX 2020 and OpusX 20 Years, reached stores in limited quantities in December 2025. For the core line, see our Opus X cigars or Opus X Lost City.
